    Membership Registration

    How do I become an IKEA FAMILY member?

    You may sign up for free temporary membership at any of the IKEA FAMILY kiosks located around the store, or online. To register, you would need to be at least 18 years old (based on birth year) and have a local mobile number and mailing address in Malaysia.

    How do I register if I do not have a local mobile number?

    Just approach any IKEA co-worker or the Customer Relations counter for assistance. We will still require a valid local contact number in order to process your application.

  • 3.

    Why do you need to collect my personal data?

    Ikano Handel Sdn Bhd collects personal information during the course of its everyday activities, and will only collect such personal information if it is necessary for one of our functions or activities. For more information, please refer to our Personal Data Privacy Notice.

  • 4.

    Why do you need so much data just for us to register as a member?

    To offer the best possible experience as an IKEA FAMILY member and personalise our communication with you as an individual, we'll need to collect some information. Why these particular data, you ask?

    • NRIC/Passport number serves as a unique identifier for each new member registered. It also serves as a source for security check and prevents duplicate accounts.
    • Contact details allow us to send you your FAMILY Card, important notices and promotional materials (which you can later choose to opt out of receiving).
    • Date of Birth lets us award birthday offers e.g. 3x Bonus Points on your birthday month. It also doubles up as your login password.
    • Marital Status, Living Situation, Household size and Type of Home/Housing allows us to understand your needs better and only send you relevant information. E.g. if you do not have children, you will not receive promotions related to children's products. Or if you have 3 kids and is living in a 4-room apartment, you'll probably need tips and ideas on storage solutions.
    • *Occupation has an option for 'Undisclosed' if you do not wish to reveal this.

    How do I access/edit my personal data under the IKEA FAMILY programme?

    You may login to the Member's portal either online or at any of the IKEA FAMILY kiosks using your 16-digit membership number and password. You would then have access to both view and edit your personal data.

    How do I cancel my membership or withdraw my personal data if I do not agree with the Personal Data Privacy Notice?

    I used to be an IKEA friends member and has received my IKEA FAMILY card. How do I activate it?

    To activate your IKEA FAMILY membership, just login at the in-store kiosk or click here.

    Please login with your 16-digit FAMILY membership number (no spacing required) and the Temporary Password given in the Welcome Letter.

    Once you have logged in, you'll be prompted to update your personal particulars and change your Date of Birth. That will be your permanent login password.

    If card activation is done in the store, you'll be able to use it immediately. If card activation is done online, you'll only be able to use it the next day at the IKEA stores.

    I used to be an IKEA FAMILY member but my membership has expired. What should I do?

    You may contact Customer Relations to reactivate your expired IKEA FAMILY membership. You may also login to the IKEA FAMILY kiosk and reactivate your expired membership.

    What is the difference between a Temporary membership and a Permanent membership?

    Temporary membership is free. Upon registration, you’ll be able to enjoy lower prices on selected products in the IKEA store, including 2x free coffee/tea and discounted meals at the IKEA Restaurant on the same day.
    To enjoy the full suite of member benefits, just spend RM200 within a year and be converted to a lifetime, permanent member. Otherwise your Temporary membership would expire after 1 year.

    How soon wil I receive my new IKEA FAMILY card and be converted to a Permanent member?

    When a Temporary member has spent at least RM200 within the first year, membership status would be automatically converted to Permanent.

    Processing of IKEA FAMILY cards for newly converted members will take approximately 4 to 8 weeks, after which we will mail your Permanent card to the mailing address provided by you.

    IKEA Malaysia and Ikano Handel Sdn Bhd shall not be liable for cards and promotional materials sent to the mailing address that is erroneously provided by an IKEA FAMILY member; nor are we responsible for any unsuccessful receipt of mails sent to the given address for whatever reason(s).

    Where can I use my IKEA FAMILY card?

    You can currently use your card in the IKEA store and should swipe it every time you make a purchase at the store checkouts.

  • 4.

    What happens if I forget to bring my IKEA FAMILY card to the store?

    The IKEA FAMILY card is the only valid proof of your right to enjoy the benefits. Bonus Points and members' prices will only be awarded if a valid Temporary card or the IKEA FAMILY card is presented at the cashiers during payment and processed successfully by scanning/swiping at our machine.

    If you lost your IKEA FAMILY card or forgot to bring it, you may print a temporary replacement card from the IKEA FAMILY kiosk before heading to check-outs. For Permanent members, you can also report Lost Card and a new card will be mailed to you within 4 weeks.

    Even if you may present your IKEA FAMILY Card together with the receipt at a later time, we are unable to credit the points to your account for your previous purchase. Thus, you are advised to always present your card upon payment to avoid any disappointment.

    What do I get by joining the IKEA FAMILY programme?

    Besides enjoying special lower prices on FAMILY Range products and selected Benefit Items each month, every RM1 spent at the IKEA stores entitles you to 1 Bonus Point. Bonus Points earned during Permanent Membership will expire 2 years from the current year on 31 Dec. Example:

    Points earned on 15 Nov 2011 will expire on 31 Dec 2013.
    Points earned on 01 Jan 2012 will expire on 31 Dec 2014.
    Points earned on 16 May 2012 will expire on 31 Dec 2014.
    Points earned on 31 Dec 2012 will expire on 31 Dec 2014.

    Points earned during Temporary membership will expire one year from your membership registration date.

    Is there anywhere in store I can't use my IKEA FAMILY card to earn points?

    Yes, purchases of IKEA Gift Cards, transactions regarding delivery, assembly and any other services provided by external companies will not be recorded nor will it earn you any Bonus Points.

  • 3.

    What can I do with my Bonus Points?

    You may start redeeming for IKEA FAMILY store vouchers with min. 500 Bonus Points for a RM5 voucher that you can use at your next purchase to enjoy a rebate. Voucher redemption has to be done in multiples of 500 Bonus Points. Each voucher is valid for 3 months from the date of redemption.

  • 4.

    How do I get my 3x Birthday Bonus Points?

    This benefit is only extended to Permanent FAMILY members; get 3x Bonus Points on the first purchase made in the IKEA store on your Birthday Month.

    If the first purchase made on your Birthday Month is while you are a Temporary Member, you would not qualify for this promotion. The 3x points will only be awarded for the first purchase after you have become a Permanent member.

    E.g.: Birthday falls in the month of June.
    Signs up for Temporary Membership on 2 June, purchase RM250. Get 250 points.
    Membership is converted to Permanent.
    Makes another purchase on 15 June, spends RM100. Get 300 points.

    How do I check the Bonus Points that I have accumulated?

    You can check your Bonus Points balance when you login to this website or at any of the in-store FAMILY kiosk. Please note that your Bonus Points balance will take 24 hours from the time of purchase to be updated in the system.

  • 6.

    Can I transfer or bring forward my Bonus Points which are expiring or extend the expiry date?

    No. Transferring of Bonus Points to a different card account, bringing forward or extending the expiry date is not permitted. Unused and expired Bonus Points will not be reinstated.

  • 1.

    How long are the FAMILY vouchers valid for?

    The vouchers are only valid for 3 months from the date of redemption, regardless of whether redemption using Bonus Points is done at the kiosk or online. The IKEA store is not responsible for replacing lost or expired vouchers.

  • 2.

    What can I use the FAMILY vouchers for?

    You may use the FAMILY vouchers for the purchase of furniture or home furnishing products in the IKEA store. Please note that vouchers may not be used at the IKEA Restaurant, Bistro, Swedish Food Market or services such as home delivery, installation/assembly, sewing, and Gift Card purchases.

    How do I redeem my IKEA FAMILY store vouchers?

    If you have sufficient Bonus Points, you can redeem for the IKEA FAMILY store vouchers at any of the in-store FAMILY kiosk. Or you can login at the member’s page in this website and redeem for the vouchers. This is the best method if your Bonus Points are expiring and you are unable to make a trip to the store.

    However please note that Bonus Points will be deducted automatically for vouchers redeemed online and the 3-month validity of said voucher will start on this date. You would still need to print the vouchers at the in-store FAMILY kiosk.

  • 4.

    What if my IKEA FAMILY voucher is misplaced or I didn’t print it before it expires?

    The IKEA store is not responsible for the loss of any misplaced or damaged vouchers. No replacements will be made. Neither will extensions be done for expired or uncollected vouchers.

  • 1.

    What if I do not want to receive any communications from IKEA FAMILY?

    We would like to notify you of our latest promotions and exclusive member events. However if you do not wish for us to contact you, simply choose the unsubscribe option in the Emails or SMS-es that we sent you.
    Alternatively, you may login to your profile, and update your preferred method of communication. You may also email / write to us directly.

  • 2.

    How often is the IKEA FAMILY newsletter sent out?

    The IKEA FAMILY newsletter is published three times a year and we will mail a hardcopy to all active* members for free. If you prefer an e-copy instead, you may unsubscribe to receive a hardcopy and view the newsletter online.

    * Member needs to have shopped at the IKEA store at least once in the past 12 months.

    What if I have changed my mailing address?

    You can login to the IKEA FAMILY website and change your personal details or do it via the in-store FAMILY kiosks.

    IKEA Malaysia and Ikano Handel Sdn Bhd shall not be liable for cards and promotional materials sent to the mailing address that is erroneously provided by an IKEA FAMILY member; nor are we responsible for any unsuccessful receipt of mails sent to the given address for whatever reason(s).

    I am an IKEA FAMILY member, but have not received any offers through the post, email or SMS. How could this be?

    It could be your contact details are not accurate and/or complete; or you may have select < No > for all methods of communication.

    Some communications are also only sent to members who have made at least 1 purchase in the last 12 months. Remember to visit the IKEA store regularly and show your IKEA FAMILY card at the check-outs.

  • 1.

    Can I return products from the IKEA FAMILY shop?

    Yes. Providing the product adheres to all regular IKEA return policies, and you have your receipt. Please present your IKEA FAMILY Card when making a purchase refund at Exchange and Returns.

  • 2.

    Can I purchase products from the IKEA FAMILY shop if I forgot to bring my Temporary card or IKEA FAMILY card?

    Yes, you can still purchase products from the IKEA FAMILY shop but you will not be able to enjoy the lower price for IKEA FAMILY members and or earn Bonus Points. Neither will you be able to enjoy your free drink or discounted FAMILY meal in the IKEA Restaurant.

    Alternatively, you may login to any of the IKEA FAMILY kiosk in the store and print a replacement membership card before going to check-outs.

    What are FAMILY product offers?

    FAMILY product offers items are products in the IKEA stores at special prices reduced exclusively for IKEA FAMILY members (whether you are a Temporary Card holder or a permanent member).

    How do I check the history of my shopping transactions in the IKEA store?

    As long as you have produced your Temporary Card or IKEA FAMILY Card at the store’s checkouts, you would be able to see the transaction captured when you login to this website within 24 hours.

    What benefits can I enjoy at the IKEA Restaurant?

    For Permanent FAMILY members, just flash your IKEA FAMILY card at the Restaurant check-outs and enjoy 2x free coffee/tea and 2x discounted FAMILY meals.

    For Temporary FAMILY members, you'll get to enjoy this same benefit only on the day of your registration. Just present your Temporary FAMILY paper card at the Restaurant check-outs. Once you have converted to permanent membership (by spending RM200 within a year), you'll be able to enjoy this benefit on every visit.
